ASG v8 on Fit-PC2i

Alvin, are you still running ASG on your Fit PC2i without issue?  I'm seriously considering buying the one you have and knowing that it's rock solid for you would be a nice "warm and fuzzy" for me!  A status update would rock!  Thanks!

Yes it is working great. Still has 1GB available with all features enabled.


It would be more perfect if it has a 3rd NIC for DMZ.

It would be more perfect if it supports 64bit. (Even if 2GB, simply cool, why not)

But for now, it simply is the best that I can find.

That 2GHz Model is seriously far much more expensive, I dont think it is worth it.

I too was interested in purchasing a Fit-PC2i but the price was more than I was willing to pay for my ASG at home.  So I settled for something that's not quite as small but still silent and it uses less than 22 watts.  And can be had for around $200 USD

I installed ASG v8 without any problems, restored my 7.x config, installed the upgraded license and I couldn't be happier!  The performance is better than that of my 7.x ASG running as VMware server appliance.

I am thrilled to see ASG v8 just run so well on it.  I highly recommend this setup for home use.

I'm too interested in getting the fitpc2i here in sg. Would you mind sharing your reselling name?
Also, I'm concern with the heat issues that might arise from 24/7 usage as a server. Any heat problems have you encountered and what environmental temperature are you operating at?

My Vendor told me now they have this 

fit-PC2i SSD
Revision 1.2, 1.6 GHz, 1GB RAM, 8GB SSD, WiFi

Problem is, this SSD is SOLDERED inside the machine.
IE: It is not the traditional slot in HDD that we know.

Sigh, on one hand, SSD seems so cool.

On the other hand, if Astaro does not see this SSD, it is useless.

Also worried about the 1GB RAM, right now I am using 50% with 8.102 (All Features enabled) and that is 1GB out of 2GB.

8GB is too small for Astaro... need at least 20GB.

In Singapore,  SSD is not that easily available.

The smallest size I can find is 60GB and cost SGD$209

OCZ Vertex 2 SATA II 2.5" SSD - OCZ


So together with the 2Ghz FitPC2i, it is about SGD$1200 for my box.

Just want to confirm.

1) This Astaro really only need 1-2GB for installation.
2) In terms of logs, my box used for 1 year also does not have much.
3) Thus I want to confirm, Assuming we really go for 8GB, 16GB which is Lesser than 20GB

The Astaro Installer Simply Wont Install, or it will install just that I may hit some storage issues if my logs is really huge?

Alvin could you comment some more on the heat? Is it heat you can bake an egg on it? Or can you provide some temperatures from the hd and cpu. [:D]

Because I'm very interested in the fitpc2, unless there's a better product.
