ASG v6.315 License Stopped Working

No idea; I can't even start a support case for V6 anymore.

you can't just reinstall. It wont work.

Wipe the hds clean then fresh install. use dban fast mode.

She will take then.

Im having the EXACT same problem! One day my license just stopped working.  I have uploaded the old license that ws suppose to be until 2012 and it just fails.  I have the same 7 user day limit and it went back to the 2006 version.  Its ridicoulus and the support desk will not help.  I have uploaded the new license 100s of times but it will not take.  Please any suggestions on why all of a sudden it stopped working when it was fine a week ago.

My license HAS NOT expired it should still be in working order!

So Here is what I did to fix it... REFORMAT! I re-installed my version 6 disk and rebuilt the firewall.  Then I applied the new license and voila! I have a new license with 50 users and its all good! I just want do the up2date installs because frankly they messed me up last time! So Im all good my firewall is up and running and its perfect with the license... I just wonder what will happen in 2012 when the license expires then...??

Since V6 is well past end of life, you do need to start planning for a migration.  We no longer provide V6 licenses.  I know you don't want to hear it, but remember that you are now running unsupported, and unpatched software on your firewall.

Well I did purchase a support contract for v6 with the understanding that I would be supported. Oh well... I've given up and moved on to v7.

I would think at this point v7 would be rock solid but when I restore a backup from my test v7 box to my production v7 box. Many unlicensed features get turned on and I cannot turn them off (AntiSpam/AntiVirus for SMTP, etc). I put in a support ticket and was told that shouldn't happen just restore it again. Doesn't work. I was also getting a SPOOFING message in the packet filter an talked to support about what may be causing it. I was told turn off spoof protection and it will go away.

We'll need more information on the spoofing alerts to give an answer there, probably something in your network configuration is dropping packets on an unexpected interface.  Since you have already opened a support case, it is likely best to request a further explanation on that case.  That is why I requested the case ID by private message to see if I could assist with that.

As far as the proxy feature set, that is no longer an issue on the current license model, as proxies can no longer be enabled if not licensed.  You have found an issue where old license model systems can have proxy configuration anomalies when migrating configurations between systems with different licensing.

Hey Dwayne, as far as the spoofing issue goes, one thing to check:  If you have additional IPs assigned to physical interfaces on the Astaro, make sure the subnet mask on the Additional Interfaces is 255.255.255.255 (/32) ... not doing so can cause spoofing alerts.

Also, i have to agree with Jack, they (Astaro) gave a lot of time to customers for them to upgrade.  Support (with any software vendor) is given only so long for older versions of software, otherwise the cost would be greatly increased.  Version 7 as it stands today is pretty rock solid, and has been for quite a while.

Thanks, but that doesn't seem to be my issue. I have a feeling it has something to do with my NAT rules allowing the internal network to access the external ip's that my mail and web servers are running on. I'm just not sure.
