It works for me too, but my serial (copied and pasted from webadmin) is not recognized [:(]

The first revision of the 220, V1, could only support 512MB of RAM. This is a hardware based limitation due to the motherboard/chipset that was used. If you have a V1, then that's the problem. The only way around this is to upgrade to a V2 or V3 220.
 
V2 220's shipped with 512MB RAM and are upgradeable to 1GB with a kit available  through resellers.

1GB is the officially sanctioned memory limit for 220's.  If you need more than this, the Astaro recommendation is to go with a higher model number appliance, such as the 320 (2GB), or to switch to your own hardware and go with the software version of Astaro.
 
At the time when V7 came out, along with the RAM upgrade kits, Astaro offered a hardware upgrade for people with a V1 appliance to a newer revision appliance, through resellers, at a discount. It wasn't free, but it took away some of the pain of upgrading. 
 
Maybe that discount offer has expired? One of the resellers who frequent this board would be better able to answer that for you.
 
Ask your reseller about the hardware upgrade.
 
It kind of sounds to me like your reseller is not very communicative with you. Partners not only sell Astaro, but MUST provide professional and courteous assistance to their customers. If he/she causes you more grief than help, there are a couple of things that you can do. 1) Move your license to a different reseller. 2) Voice your concerns to Astaro. Both can probably be facilitated through the sales numbers provided at Astaro.com:

Scott is on the money with this response.  Given the recent changes to the pricing model, hardware upgrades alone are still relatively inexpensive.  If you are using a Rev. 1. appliance, your only choices are to upgrade to a Rev 2 or 3 appliance, or to change to a software license (per user) and use your own hardware.  Most of my customers with Rev. 1 appliances have opted to upgrade their old 220 units to  Rev. 3 unit.

Many thanks for your precious informations. I have rev3 with 1gb ram. I don't think I have particular complex configuration, but I noticed that if I enable dual scan, my asg start to swap up to 10-15%, without the ram usage is 70-80% (no swap). I think that an update to 320 is too expensive (we have few money this year for IT [:(] ).

Anyway, it sounds strange to me that it is not possible to upgrade ram. I don't known the hardware that is installed, but 2gb ddr2-3  memory exists! [:)]

Ah ok. Yep 1GB is the maximum Astaro will support on a newer revision 220. 
 
That being said, this is a support issue and not a hardware issue. The newer 220's CAN take more RAM, definately 2GB and possibly as much as 4GB, but this is unsupported by Astaro. In order to add more RAM, you would need Astaro support to sign off on the upgrade. Otherwise, if you were to upgrade the RAM yourself (even with an Astaro memory kit), it would null and void your support agreement.  A big no-no.
 
I feel your pain here. I've tried in the past to get Astaro support to let me add memory (220 rev 2 with 1GB here, average 80% memory usage and 35% swap.), but each time I get shot down. Basically they aren't going to approve it without your mem usage being constantly in the red and super high swap usage.
 
Given that Astaro has been adding significant features with each new version, I would fully expect them to allow 220 owners to upgrade to 2GB RAM at some point, just like they allowed us to go from 512MB to 1GB. I was hoping that we'd reach that point with the imminent release of V8, but it's more likely to be at v8.5 or v9 depending on added features.

I would suggest starting a support case with Astaro regarding whether you can add more RAM... in instances long past (back during the V6 days), we had some performance issues with the old 110/120 appliances that came with !! 256MB !! of RAM... we got permission, as a reseller, to up it to 512MB... shortly after that became the standard.  If your case warrants it, they may allow you to up it a bit -- but they need to make that call.

All that said, all of my customers that are on 220s with 1GB of RAM get good performance with all features enabled; however, there is the possibility that maybe some folks buy less appliance than would be needed for their current situation, and they suffer even more of a performance hit later on as features are added, etc.  I took over an account where an unknowledgable reseller sold a 220 to a site that had a 10Mb/s pipe with 70 users, tons of file transfer hosted sites, with all features, and tons of mail and web traffic... heavy usage overall ... and this was back when they (the 220) shipped with 512MB!  I ended up upgrading them to a 425.  A 425 (well a 420, the 425 didn't come around until later on) is what should have been sold to them to start with.

Hi brucek, this is a little summary of my configuration:

- 5 interface used (WAN, LAN, DMZ, 1 dedicated to video surveillance, 1 dedicated to network UPS)
- 70 packet filter rules
- 20 NAT rules
- 139 network definitions
- 114 service definitions
- QoS active
- IPS active on all interfaces
- FTP/HTTP Proxy active on 1 interface (LAN) in transparent mode, Antivirus active in dual scan mode, url filtering active
- Mail Proxy active for 3 domain, 60 email addresses. Antivirus active in dual scan mode, antispam active. 700 legitimate mail received/day, 1500 spam mail rejected/day.
- IM/P2P filter active
- Remote Access active for 5 simultaneous users (both VPN SSL / IPSEC)

Our Lan has 30 users. Then we have 2 mail servers, 1 web server that hosts 10 domains.
