GHz Vs Cores Vs CPUs

Building a Astaro FW using the software version of ASG, would I benefit best from one Quad-Core 2.4 GHz or two Quad-Core 2.0GHz? The price is almost the same, but the featues are somewhat different:

IntelRegistered XeonRegistered E5504, 2.0Ghz, 4M Cache, 4.86 GT/s QPI, 800MHz Max Memory
IntelRegistered XeonRegistered E5530, 2.4Ghz, 8M Cache, 5.86 GT/s QPI, Turbo, HT, 1066MHz Max Memory

The 2.4GHz part has Turbo, HT, faster memory speed and double cache

    Yes he did, which is the same I've ordered. The supplier (Iwill Webshop) only had one motherboard in stock so I'm still waiting for mine, which I'm actually installing at my dads place, since he only has a crappy zyxel wlan router with probably the poorest admin gui and feature set. Finally getting him a good FW with all the benefits (less headaces managing his security and helpin him with the computers etc). I actully "stole" my friends box today since iwill.no couldn't deliver my system "in time" - I'm visiting my dad this weekend and he lives 4 hours away and I need to install the box when I'm there.

    We actually opted for the 3xNIC add-on board with Intel chipsets instead of Realtek. Had to pay about NOK 150 (about US$25) more, but we get better quality and it's worth it i think.

    The board: Jetway Intel 945GC + ICH7 Atom 330 1.6GHz DualCore mini-ITX
    3xIntel: Jetway 3 x Gb/s LAN (Intel)

    I agree on the weak FP of the atom, BUT there is no part of a firewall that uses it anyway, so what's your point?

    Well, he's kinda right. A _Firewall_ only filters packets, it doesn't use IPS, A/V etc. But as an UTM device, IPS, A/V etc are used. And in this case, Astaro can be used to both, it all depends on your needs [:)]
