USB Network interface

Hi everyone!
As I am using a small "shuttle" pc which can only host 2 network-cards, I want to add a third usb-networkinterface (dlink- Dub-E100). Problem is: the device is not recognized. Nor with the running ASG 7.501 I'm using right now, neither at installation process...

Has anyone experience in running an usb-networkinterface?
i couldn't find the 'usbnet'-module , which is often used for these purposes...
Any idea would help!

    USB won't work with Astaro.  Why not try VLANs instead?

    Thank you for the tip...but there occured a new problem:
    my networkinterface is listed on the HCL and it says it is supporting VLAN 
    (Intel 82541PI Gigabit Ethernet Controller). But when I want to set up an new VLAN, there is no hardware-device to select... I suppose a new driver could fix the VLAN-support, but this linux-version wouldn't even understand 'make install'. Is it possible to install networkdrivers? or is this all fixed after installing an ASG? Is there information what this linux-version can and cannot? I'm a little confused...

    Hi jp, 

    in order to configure a VLAN interface, you need to make sure that no other interface is configured there. this means you need to delete the existing interface on that EthernetDevice than create two VLAN interfaces with the appropriate tags and than you need to configure your VLAN capable switch that these two VLANs come in that port, where this Ethernet Device is connected to the switch.

    I've tried it and it worked just fine! Sometimes a solution can be so simple!There should be a hint in the adminguide, as I read the chapter on VLAN and it is not mentioned, that a "clean" interface is required...
