I often use astaro firewalls in our company and I really like this product.
So I planed to "build" a whitebox for home use. I only need spam filter and the remote acess (SSL and PPTP as fallback). So I can use the free license.
I found lots of white boxes in the signatures of some board members. But I have some special requirements:
1. fan less (very important) --> the box is in my home office and I dont like loud devices
2. small --> prefered is, that the box is smaller then a barebone --> maybe the size of an synology harddrive?
3. cheap --> 300 till 400 Swiss francs this means 290 til 380 US Dollars.
4. support for 2 NICs (maybe later I will use this a firewall)
In the next few months I am going to migrate my server to a new hardware which is a shuttle barebone with microsoft hyper-v server. But there is no astaro support for hyper-v.
It would be nice, if you put your hardware specs, the total cost and some pictures in this thread. Other persons might also interessted in this.
