Install fails at Step 3

I tried installing both the latest stable ASG and the latest ASG beta (7.480) on my router PC, and it always fails when I get to Step 3.
The Step 3 page shows the error "Installation failed, remove disc and reboot".

The PC I'm trying to install ASG on has the Intel G45/ICH10 chipset, so it could be related to that (but from what I've read on this forum, that should result in a "No HDD found" error, not a complete installer failiure).

I read here today that it might help to disable the SATA-subsystem in the BIOS for the time being, but I'm stuck at work for another six hours, so I'm open for input while I wait to get home.

    Hi,
    try changing the sata configuration to a different type AHCI or IDE.

    Hi, if you get a failure again, you can press ALT-F2 and ALT-F3 to see the system logs, and see if there was an error finding the hard disk or something.

    I'm having issues also. I don't know if my chip set is supported. Here is the specs I'm trying to install it on. i have a 1.1 Duron, 1GB of Ram, 10 GB HDD, a ECS mobo with onboard NIC. I also have an intel 82550ey pro/100 s NIC card installed.

    I hit ALT-F2 and it brought me to the command line, and when I hit ALT-F3 I get a log report. Everything seems ok and towards the end I get this.

    Phase end: hw_conf (ret=0)
     unmount: /dest//sys: No such file or directory
     unmount: /dest//proc: No such file or directory
     unmount: /dest//boot: No such file or directory
     unmount: /dest//opt/inst: No such file or directory
     unmount: /dest//var/storage: No such file or directory
     unmount: /dest//var/log: No such file or directory
     unmount: /dest//tmp: No such file or directory
     unmount: /dest//: Invalid arguement


    When I go back to the command line I am in home "~" and type in dir and it lists these:

    bin
    boot
    dest
    dev
    etc
    install
    lib
    lost+found
    mnt
    proc
    sbin
    share
    sys
    tmp
    usr
    var

    Like most linux distros I assume... Am I getting the errors because the directories are in the wrong directory? i.e //boot is not in the /dest directory?  and if i cd to /dest nothing is in the directory..

    Maybe the hard drive / controller is not recognized.

    I'm getting exactly the same error on a ASG120 trying to install v7.404

    though above this list i get 

    ASG Autodetection: detected asg120 (matches 9/10) [failed]
    No ASG detected

    preinst returned with 1
    checking for non-ASG installer on ASG hardware
    Phase end: hw_conf (ret=4)

    Can anyone help?

    Hi IanC, are you using the software installer or the hardware appliance installer?
