[7.400] After up2date network link status shows error.

My Red interface and fallback interface show as ERROR on Link status.

They seem to be working OK. (I am remoted into the system now).

Red is an ethernet interface. Static IP.
Fallback is a PPPoE ADSL interface.

Prior to the upgrade, the ADSL was configured as a failover interface.

After the upgrade, Uplink Balancing is turned on by itself automatically and configured as failover type.
Red is primary and ADSL is secondary.

Anyone got any ideas or is this a bug?  Hardware is in my sig below.

If I disable Uplink Balancing, Link status on Red goes green(OK) as does the ADSL but it shows as connected and I guess I now have no failover.

  • We have only a single internet connection, but I wanted to experiment with load balancing and multipathing.

I enabled an unconnected interface, then created an 'Uplink Balancing' entry combining the unconnected interface with our active WAN connection.  It was no surprise that I was informed: "Interlink uplink is down."

Then, 13 minutes later: "Up2Date prefetch failed: All 10 Authentication Servers failed" - now, that unconnected interface was in the second position in Uplink Balancing.

I disabled the balance, and SMTP stopped.  I rebooted the Astaro, but it hasn't come back.  I'll get to the office an hour ahead of everyone else to restore from a recent backup that doesn't have anything at all configured in Uplink Balancing.

  • Hi.

Try to removed and reconfigured the interface from scratch.
Unless you have a hole configuration already depending on this interface, it seems a fast way  to resolve the problem.

Unfortunately 7.401 didn't resolve the problem.
  • Astaro Support ssh'd into our Astaro last night and "created two (root readonly) files in /etc/init.d with some scripting for iptables" to resolve the issue.  They don't understand the cause and fix yet, so if anyone else experiences "broken DNS" when they test their uplink failover, you'll need to submit a support request.

    Cheers - Bob
