7.3 Installation problem...

try login as root, and /etc/init.d/factoryreset start

Didn't work:

:: Starting Facotry Reset Support    (failed)
cp: cannot stat 'var/lib/misc/luserdb': No such file or directory
etc/init.d/factoryreset: line 46: /use/bin/astp: no such file or directory

This is a completely brand new installation just before posting.

EDIT: It is factoryreset reset and not factoryreset start

I will report back to see if it will work.

After using factoryreset reset, all this is doing is not allow me to reload the thing, just pick up at a new install.

This is very disappointng to have happen  [:(]

After two more resets, it worked.  No idea why.

What kind of hardware are you using?  If it's very low-spec, this can happen (in other words, it takes longer than 40 seconds for it to generate the certs, etc.).

I am currently using a Dell XPS 400 desktop.

It has an 80GB SATA II drive, Dual core Intel 3.0 GHz processor, 2 GB DDR2 memory, Intel internal NIC (with a 3com 905 for my second NIC).

So nothing that is low spec really. [:)]

I thought about that as well, thinking it might take longer than normal, but when I had first put this on before the fomat/reload, it took it about 20 seconds the first time and the web page came back just fine to the login screen.  This time when I formatted and then reloaded Astaro back on it, I would plug in my information, and wait.  The page would just come back as Cannot be Displayed.

I could ping it with no problems, and tried a couple of different methods of re-connecting to it directly (no switches or hubs).

After a couple of factoryreset resets, it worked.

The only problem now (which I had also before) was that my Network Security and Web Security pages are not displaying any information, which is what prompted me to re-load in the first place.

Network Security, Web Security and Webadmin logins (Management) are not being reported.

EDIT: Also, Reporting ---> Web Security, the Web Usage graph is not showing and only displays 'undefined'. Under the Blocked Usage, also shows 'undefined'.

I see in another thread that you are having multiple problems.  It seems like you might have a damaged CD load disk or the ISO didn't download correctly.  If you have another hard drive handy, you also might see if you have a malfunctioning hard drive.

Yeah, that's more than enough "horsepower" to run ASG... You may also want to run Memtest on it, and maybe try a different secondary NIC (I think I've had some situations where 3COM nics didn't behave properly)...

I have downloaded the ISO twice now to be sure.

Before the 3com, I had the same issue with a previous network card as well.

No memory errors at all, no HDD errors, no bad I/O taking place, no bad sectors.

Just for an FYI on the one and only problem, but I can't seem to make that work as well because it already sees that files exist.

I won't be of much help.  In six years of reselling Astaro, I've never seen an initial installation with such difficulties.

I reloaded this time, instead with 7.300 instead of the 7.302 ISO.

It works.

I will update the appliance again with Up2Date and see where that takes me, but I am guessing this is going to be a version issue.

Tom, Gert, you might ask someone to check the 2008-10-10 iso on the download site.
