I have a few questions.
1. We have an astaro 6 install. we want to upgrade to 7. We are running it on a dell 1850 with a perc 4 raid controller and two 80 gig drive in raid 1. We had a problem at first because the dell virtual cd rom drive ( drack card) was throwing the installer off. So we disabled it and the installer still fails but we have no idea why. Its a dual core dual chip xeon system with 2 gigs of ram.
We contacted astaro support a few times only to have a reply 8 hours later that it should work. is there any special mode to start the install in so that it shows why it fails instead of just saying restart ?
2. Our goal is to have 2 internet connections two firewalls each of which can switch to the next to make sure that we are totally covered when it comes to network outages and problems. Can you point me to any (plain english) information on this. Basically firewall one handles our main internet , firewall two handles our backup internet, in the event internet one goes down firewall one routes all traffic through internet backup. If backup internet goes down firewall two routes its normal traffic through firewall one, and in the vent either firewalls goes down we have another nic on them to handle there traffic on the alternate firewall.
It sounds complicated and it probably is, but i wasn't able to find a simple explanation on how to do high availability with two connections and two firewalls.
3. If there is a better way to do number two please share.
