New hardware, but not in HCL ....

I bought a new mb - ASUS M2A-VM because it was one of the recent ones with an onboard display. Brilliant mb, extremely fast with an am2 x2 4000 and 2gb of 800 ram (incompatible with the 4gb in Vista). It has a nVidia 650 chipset.
Only problem it is not in the HCL. Another strange fact is, Vista 32 won't boot on it, neither will Mandrive 2007.1 32 bit, but MS XP does and installs. ASG boots gets up to the hardware checking then fails, no reason. I have tried the no APIC, no good.

Looks like I will have to nurse the existing box until the next kernel release. Might try a fresh install and see if that helps.

    Have you tried loading a recent Fedora or Ubuntu live CD/DVD to figure out what drivers it uses?

    So are you saying that ASG installs but then fails to boot, or the ASG installer does not load?

    thank you for trying help.
    1/. XP loaded without missing a beat
    2/. ASG loaded and ran to the hardware check window and stops advising to remove the CD and restart the PC.
    3/. Vista 32 won't even read the CD
    4/. Mandriva 32/64 won't even read the CD.

    I have changed the CD/DVD and it didn't make any difference.

    Tonight I will replace the sata drive with a straight IDE and see what happens.

    The whole thing is very strange, I haven't struck a setup where linux will not load.

    Try running MemTest86 (boot) or the Prime95 (windows or linux) stress-test.

    Hi guys,
    changed to an IDE drive and it loads, well I let it get as far as formatting the partitions. So, that means the new ATI SB600 will have to wait a few kernel releases before becomes and accepted SATA controller.

    The onboard lan card is Gigabyte PCIe LAN controller is also unsupported.

    I stopped it because I need to re-wire the drive in correctly and add 2 more NICs or at least one more and try some VLAN stuff.[[[:)]]][[[:)]]][[[:)]]]

    What chipset does the onboard LAN card use? If you can grab lspci output, hopefully Astaro will see it and look to adding support for the next kernel update.

    Good morning all,

    Installed ASG V7.100 last night, took forever with an 80gb IDE drive. I will be configuring it shortly.
    the hardware is a ASUS mb M2A-VM
    chipsets
    northbridge AMD690G
    southbridge ATI SB600 - SATA function is not recognised
    onboard display ATI 1250
    LAN card RealTek 8111/8168 that shows up at BIOS POST, but is not recognised by the ASG

    I have installed 2 intel NICs, 1 a PCI and the other a PCI-e. This build will only be a 2 port box for the moment until I can find a half height (mount) PCI NIC.

    The output of
    lspci -v

    might help Astaro get a driver into their future kernels.
