Dashboard Reporting Incorrect Ram

This may be a stupid question but can someone tell me why astaro reports 9mb less ram on the dashboard than is installed...

512 mb ram
16 shared to video
487 reported

I tried it in a vm setting it to 512 ram and it reported it as 503...

  • The "missing memory" is used for your shared memory video card.... It's common to see memory reported in this way on most appliances, etc. as they don't use separate video memory.  I do often go in the BIOS on such machines and reduce the shared video memory to minimum size, who needs 1000's of colors when it's just used to drive a console connection?
