ASL 6.311 freezes

Hello together,

We're using Astaro since Version 3 and we have the problem that the maschine freezes. It's not possible to enter the console neither to enter the wedamin-interface. First we thought that the harddisk are having some trouble and replaced them. We although checked if there's a temperature problem, but the temperature is ok.

    Check the hardware reporting graphs... right before it dies, do you see a spike in load or ram usage? If so, you may be running an underpowered system.

    The hardware reporting graphs are not showing any peaks in load or ram usage. The system is a 2-way 1.2 Ghz Pentium and has 1 GB Ram, RAID-1 with 80 GB HDDs. Any other suggestions?

    Sounds like it might be a hardware issue since that's an older machine.  Maybe try switching out the ram first or doing a re-install.

    Yeah, the primary cause of lockups on 6.*** for us has been flaky hardware.

    Try running memtest86 for at least 4 hours and preferably 12-24 hours if you can to rule out memory problems.

    Luckily, it's fairly straight forward to swap in a temporary replacement as long as you can source a machine with the same number of nics if you need to avoid significant downtime.

    This could be the reason, but the system is running very well and there are now freezes, until our CRM dept. is sending a newsletter. Then we receive a lot of out-of-offices replies to our internal emailsystem in a short period of time and the system freezes.
