Andreas: Why March? Why has this feature been given such a low priority. This will, and already has stopped quite a few upgraders.

The complete backend logic to store, validate and enforce configuration has been changed from version 6 to version 7. In addition, the amount of features and dependencies are enormous. And the worst case for us would be customers trying to upgrade ending in a broken, non-recoverable system state. Therefore we rather take our time to test this excessively and with utmost care.
Why? Because there are very few people who put .0 releases into production.
The good part of this is that there are features we all want to use. The bad part is that 7.002 still needs work and we need to have some patience. I have one site running 7.002 in production now. I'd advise you to wait a little longer.
