While I realize Astaro no longer OFFICIALLY supports the Toshiba SG20 devices, I am trying to install ASG on an upgraded SG20 (I have upgraded processor to a PIII 1.0Ghz chip, and 384Mb of RAM - soon to be 512 or more, assuming I can get this working).
I followed the instructions posted, by Ronny, here:
https://community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/astaroorg/f/52/t/24275
and have successfully gotten the image on my harddrive by installing to the harddrive from another computer. I edited my /etc/modules.conf file, which now reads:
=====================================
alias eth0 8139too
alias eth1 e100
=====================================
These are the only two entries. By putting the harddrive back into the SG20, I can successfully log into WebAdmin using eth0, however, eth1 does not show up at all under the interfaces listings (eth0, and two serial interfaces are the only listings).
The Supported Hardware Guide lists the Intel chipset, which as far as I know is the only other chipset Toshiba used as the second interface for the SG20, as being supported, but it is not being recognized by Astaro. Plugging in an ethernet cable does show activity on the interface lights (near the ethernet jack), so I believe the hardware is functioning.
Because the SG20 does not have either a video card [there IS an AGP slot - BUT, it is under the daughterboard that houses the NICs, so I can't use both at the same time (I do have a PCI64 flex-riser on order)], I can't log into the console while the NIC is plugged in. I CAN get into the BIOS, but only if I unplug the daughterboard, which houses the NICs.
Does anyone have any suggestions how I can get Astaro to recognize the second interface? Has Astaro changed the drivers for the Intel chipset from version 5.0, which the instructions were written for?
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you,
dasein-geist
