I have 2 user, now i am only on the internet, i have restart firewall. When is internet down, is cpu 0,00 - 0,09, after i connect to the internet is like thihs:
My hardwer info: Celeron 2.8GHz, 1024MB DDR2 memory, 250Gb HDD
I have this as enable (green):
- Anomaly Detection
- Notification Levels (high serverity only) for Detected Packets & Blocked Packets
- Notify on anomaly events
Overall your CPU usage is rather high, but your comment no internet, cpu usage very low is the pointer. I would suspect that you are suffering a high number of what I call Microsoft noise attacks. Alot of people don't have firewalls and seem to be connected to the internet without a firewall. I found before I put filtering inplace that the CPU usage was higher then I liked due to junk traffic beating against the firewall.
I think you have your firewall managing the ADSL connection and that will thow extra load on the firewall, your equipment list didn't cover your www interface.
Also you didn't indicate what packet filter and proxies you are running if any.
Load Average between 0 an 1 is nothing to worry about.
Yeah, I agree. And as far as I know the load number just indicates how many processes are waiting for a CPU cycle in a given moment. So it may happen that you have load of 3 and higher just because some processes is waiting for some other process. That does not have to mean that the CPU is too busy.
You should really have a look at top output and if there is no process which uses constantly >90% CPU time there's no reason to worry.
I got the same problem, but figured out it started after installing one of the recent update 6.200,6.201 or 6.202. Do not now exactly because the troubleshooting took me over one day.
Now I am running 6.106 and everything is well: low processor usage, almost no disk writes, ......
Maybe in the future I will think of trying to update again, probably not for a while.
