Memory Creep

If you go to Reporting->Advanced and click on "Process List", you should be able to figure out what's using up all the memory on your machine. Copy and paste everything there and post it here. You'll want to look for large VSZ and RSS numbers.

Hyperdyper is the major offender, having claimed that it needs about 3GB of memory. Most of that process is probably swapped out. Looks like it has a memory leak.

You might want to disable HTTP content filter (surf protection) unless you really need it.

Here is a copy of my edited process list It looks very much like yours in memory usage. How many users do you have? Do they use things like IP phones?

My system memory use goes up and down over a period depending on dowloads, but sits on average about 450mb with swap at the moment of 4.6mb.

With the spike in your memory, somebody or something downloaded a large file or you were subjected to an attack I think.

Ok I have experimented and watched.

With antivirus and surf protection turned on the memory will creep until it grinds the system to a halt. (Actually, I have been afraid to see what would happen. So, I don’t let it get that far, though it will start grinding the hdd with constant swapping.)

With it turned off it runs at 400 megs with nearly unnoticeable change just about indefinitely.

If there is an Astaro person reading this, or any suitably knowledgeable person,  I would appreciate an idea as to why this may be. 

The creeping seems to be about 50 megs a day.

sound like a memory leak. any firewall out there with working anti virus for web ;-)))
