[6.100] RAID controller not found (megaraid)

Was going to upgrade a 5.2 box to 6.1 today, but ran into a problem when trying to install 6.1, it could not find the raid array, there was a "no hard disk error" or something similar.

Looks like a similar problem was found during the beta, but never resolved: [5.800] MegaRAID incompatibility.

Currently the machine is using the megaraid driver. The machine is a Dell PowerEdge 600sc. Below is the output from /proc/pci regarding the raid card:

It looks like the 6.1 software includes the megaraid_mm/mbox drivers which aren't compatible with this raid card, the plain megaraid driver should be used I believe.

    I've had this problem on RHEL 4... quite painful.

    I fixed it by hand on RHEL, but now I've found the kernel updates are no longer compatible with the module I built.

    Yes, I had this problem with FC3 and FC4 as well, luckily recent kernels have it fixed and I haven't had to install those machines from scratch.

    Yes but it seems that Astaro didn't.
    Yesterday I've downloaded the trial version, just to understand if it's worth the upgrade from version 5.2, but I wasn't able to install it at all because the installation program doesn't recognize the raid controller.
    Quite strange because I had no problem with version 5.2.
