Forcing change of address (DHCP)

Does anyone know how to force ASL to force a change of it's DHCP address?  I do not own the DHCP server supplying the address to the external interface.

Thanks

The ip of the external address will change under conditions set by your provider's dhcp.  You can try unplugging the cord from the external interface..waiting a few seconds and reconnecting it.  If the provider's dhcp is configured to change your address that will pretty much guarentee a change.  Mine changes every midnight..no sooner no later no matter what i do..that is how my provider has it setup.

  • Some of the time, ISP's attach IP addresses by MAC...if you can spoof the MAC of the external interface it should change IP...

I cloned mine a while back to test something and have it back default.  I did it with v5 and it worked well.
