[6.001] Dialup interfaces don't work

I had the same problem under 5.900 and previous betas, see here: [5.900] Dialup doesn't Dial

The dialup interface never seems to open the serial port and send the modem commands when turning on the interface.  5.203 worked OK.  Anyone else get a dialup interface working on ASL v6?

    Upgraded to 6.004 and while the dialup device will attempt to dial OK, it does not ever seem to retry the connection if it fails for some reason, forever leaving it in the down state.  Below is a snippet from the PPP Daemon log as an example:

    Anyone ever get dialup with a modem working reliably?  My goal is to be able to fail over to the dialup modem if the primary link goes down, but if I can't get a dialup link working OK on it's own, I can't go much further.

    Yes, I don't think it's the modem that is the problem.
