Faster: 1.8ghz Celeron or Dual 500mhz PIII SMP?

I just picked up a rather low end computer and was wondering which will run ASL 5.2xxx faster? 

A 1.8ghz Celeron (128k L2 cache) w/512MB PC133 SDRAM (Intel 845GM chipset)?
or
A dual 500mhz P3 (256k L2 cache per CPU) w/512MB of PC100 SDRAM (Intel BX440 chipset) & SMP aware kernel?

Both systems would have the same NIC's & HDD.

    What version of Astaro and what features of Astaro are you looking to use?  SMP in Astaro can be flaky but in some situations it is better w SMP than UP.

    v5.2 with HTTP proxy, two subnets (wired & wireless), and two IPSec VPN tunnels, and just a couple rules & filters.

    A bit of a toss up.  Both will serve you well but the higher clock speed celey wil last a bit longer due to the slightly faster memory subsystem.

    Well, as already pointed out, the situation is quite even. If you have any other need for the other machine, you could make the decision based on that, leaving the other for Astaro machine. In general, this dual P3 should also do fine on 5.2 but looking at V6 hw recommendations, I would probably go with the Celeron.
