I've not tested this for a while ... but in the earlier releases of ASL v.5 it wasn't possible because of various reasons that have been discussed in other posts ..

can u put astaro on a seperate partition ? 

before i go nuts on this , i was going to allocate a c: partition for it as a boot device but  keep my data thats on other partitions in tact for now  till im familiar with the astaro interface .

Note : Other partitions are NTFS.

Sorry, you can't do that either. ASL will use the whole disk, no matter what size destroying everything that is on it. Minimum requirement is 8GB and even with that problems have been reported (during updates).
