what about your hardware?

Moondog: Burn the CD at 8x maximum.  I always get bad install CD's when I burn them at high speed.

(God knows why, you'd think a CD is a CD no matter what speed it's burnt at but it seems to work that way [;)] ).

Simon, the sucess rate of burning a CD at high speed mainly depends on two factors: first, the quality of the media you're usinbg and second the quality (and age) of your CD burner.

Try it on a different machine with a different media and you'll probably see better sucess rate at high speed. Oh, and if you can stop the pneumatic drill while you're doing the burn, that should help too [;)]

Yes, media matters! And sometimes burning software too; I prefer Nero...

Hrm, OK, we use pretty good media, (Verbatim).  And decent drives...  Guess everyone has different experiences.

Have you burnt OK at 24x or higher?

I have burned at 24x max on my new dvd burner..52x max on my "old" burner that i gave to a friend.

I'll try again then, I got into the havit of burning ASL ISO's at 8x speed [:)]

I agree with Simon, stick with conservative (i.e. lower) CD burning speeds to guarantee yourself flawless results. What speed that should be, depends on the CD burner that you are using. As a general rule, reduce the burn speed one notch below the maximum speed that your CD burner is capable of.

I tried burning the iso 6 different ways and have yet to get a working copy. I followed everyones advice (thanks) but nothing worked. I've never had these kinds of problems with an iso before. Lucky for me I also ordered a CD off the website which worked like a charm.
