what about your hardware?

definitely the CD, possibly the ISO image was corrupted during download, we post the MD5 sum of the ISO image on our download server, you can verify the MD5 sum of the ISO file you downloaded if they match, there is tools for Windows generating an MD5 sum for a file.

Moondog: Burn the CD at 8x maximum.  I always get bad install CD's when I burn them at high speed.

(God knows why, you'd think a CD is a CD no matter what speed it's burnt at but it seems to work that way [;)] ).

Simon, the sucess rate of burning a CD at high speed mainly depends on two factors: first, the quality of the media you're usinbg and second the quality (and age) of your CD burner.

Try it on a different machine with a different media and you'll probably see better sucess rate at high speed. Oh, and if you can stop the pneumatic drill while you're doing the burn, that should help too [;)]

Yes, media matters! And sometimes burning software too; I prefer Nero...

Hrm, OK, we use pretty good media, (Verbatim).  And decent drives...  Guess everyone has different experiences.

Have you burnt OK at 24x or higher?

I have burned at 24x max on my new dvd burner..52x max on my "old" burner that i gave to a friend.

I'll try again then, I got into the havit of burning ASL ISO's at 8x speed [:)]
