configurations with more than 5 NICs

hi,

i'm just interested if there's someone out there having more than 5 interfaces istalled. (what about irq sharing, etc)
if so a small discription about the board and the nics would be verry nice. just tell me your expirience

    there is almost no limit but the number of available PCI slots. I know that you can order machines with 20 100MBit Ports builtin. If you want to spend more money use senseless GB nics. Senseless because of the maximum packet transfer rate of approximately 1 Gbit - in general max throughput depends on the average packet size. With modern boards and CPU it is no problem at all to have that many interfaces. Configuration may become a bit uncormfortable due to the fact that it is not possible to assign rules directly to interfaces.

    Hint for you BCE: don try it with k7s5a

    switched back to v4 - seems that everything works fine now. but get the whole time packetfilter logs on the console. [:O]
