HI,
I've just installed V5.22
I can't get the DSL interface "up". I've entered it as PPPoE-DSL connection. My isp (SBC Global) uses static IPs of which we have 5. The DSL router they supplied us is a Cayman 3500.
I've had a simple Netgear RO318 DSL firewall setup for months using the same settings I'm inputting into the Astaro firewall.
I've entered the same IP address and gateway. My ISP does not require a login or password (that verification is done in the Cayman router and on the isp's end). So that is not a problem. I do not need a login or password with my Netgear firewall either.
The problem I believe is the Netmask. I can't set it when I choose the PPPoE connection. And it is different than my internal. My internal is 255.255.255.0 and the netmask my ISP wants to see on the "LAN side" of the Cayman DSL router is 255.255.255.248. I can set the netmask with the Netgear firewall and like I said it works fine.
When I enter just the Static IP and the gateway IP, here is what it says in the parameters window after I've saved the info.
Admin light = "green" (after I enabled it)
OPER = "down"
NAME/TYPE = "DSL (PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE-DSL) connection)"
Parameters = "???.???.???.??? / ???.???.???.???
Gateway: none"
This is further indication (I think) that it requires the right netmask. But how can I enter it when there is no way to?
I know the card works because if I set the connection to "standard Ethernet Interface" I can enter my IP, gateway and netmask and it works fine (that is except I can't get POP/SMTP mail to work even with the rules and masquerading set properly!). The parameters all read correctly too when I set it up this way. It shows the correct IP, gateway and netmask.
My internal interface is up and running no problem.
PLEASE HELP! [:S]
