Cannot establish dsl-connection

Hi,
I  try to configure a dsl-connection (german t-dsl) using asl V5 but I cannot get it work. I configured 1 internal (eth0) and 1 dsl (eth1) using pppoe over a allnet all0333 dsl-modem (pppoe) which has an ip-address of 192.168.1.1.
I tried eth1 configuring as pppoe-dsl, address by remote, gateway by remote, username and passwort (of t-online) but the interface is always down. The link between eth1 and the dsl-modem is a normal patch-kabel which is ok cause I made a test configuration eth1 as normal interface (192.168.1.2) and a got a  "up". The username and password for t-online is correct cause i use these values for my existing t-dsl router (which is always disconnected when I make the tests). 
So:
1. DSL-Modem telling: ADSL, Ethernet-Link  is ok
2. Cabling be ok Modem  eth1 is ok
3. userdata for t-online is ok (verified with router)
=> It ought to be a problem with the asl-configuration of the eth1
In the pppoe logfile there are several entries of:
2004:09:12-18:17:47 (none) pppoe[29092]: Timeout waiting for PADO packets
2004:09:12-18:17:47 (none) pppoe-sh: Can not connect DSL AC - retry in 900 seconds

    ok slowly:

    your modem is connected to the splitter and your eth1 to the modem.
    so what has the ip 192.168.1.1 - the modem ??!;-) or the dsl nic?.
    if you want to use ppoe for the dsl-interface then you mustn't give it a static private ip. configure it as pppoe and insert your user name and password (the t-offline pardon t-online style ;-) )

    thank you for reply - I try to figure it out again:
    asl:
    eth0   switch (internal)
    eth1   dsl-modem  splitter

    The dsl-modem has a factory set ip-adress of 192.168.1.1/24. This is not needed for pppoe (as I understand the protocol) - it's just for firmware updates of the modem and this ip cannot be unconfigured. 
    I configured the eth1 as pppoe-dsl in asl giving the t-online user/password data and the default settings of the asl-manual. 

    the user/password settings are correct cause I use them with my old dsl-router. the old router is behind my old firewall and will be switched off, if asl runs. Otherwise I would not be able to write these lines.

    When I do the testing of the new dsl-modem is switch the splitter-cable from the old router to the new dsl-modem, for sure.

    eth1=pppoe -> check the user pass combination xxxxxxxxxxxx@t-online.de#0001 or how it is.

    have you checked the old router again - i mean if your connection still works  - because like i know german telekom blocks a port after 10 wrong authentications. physicaly you got a link you say but your box cannot find the access concentrator

    You say your old modem working correct?! Only your new allnet dsl modem don´t work with your settings?. I have the same problem with allnet at t-online. I call the hotline from t-com (not t-online) and they reset the t-dsl port. Then all working very well. If this not help you can contact me in german to my private eMail address. I hope I can help you more.

    sorry dudes - but i really can't understand why the world is using allnet ;-) , because every 2nd peace of allnet-hardware i've seen was buggy

    the old connection (using this old connection) is still working.
    I just made the test to set the password (which is ****) on the dsl-router once again using the data of the t-online paper.
    It's correct and working.

    The user/pass combination you wrote is the old one (using the #).
    The correct one (I also use in the router) is:
    aaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnssss@t-online.de
    a=anschlusskennung
    n=t-online nummer
    s=mitbenutzernummer/suffix
    this is the one i entered in the user-field of the pppoe-configuration of asl. 

    I found another posting of someone who made an update on 5.015 and after it the dsl-connection of asl didn't work as well giving the same error-messages like mine.
    Perhaps I should do a reinstall using the 5.022 version.

    have you switched the allnet modem off from the power source?

    and called the t-com support to reset your port - like admin_for_hell told you.

    but make sure that your allnet modem is powerd off and disconnected.

    Your login data looks like good. It is OK.
    The ip-address isn´t for firmware updates because this modell is a normal modem without firmware policy (this is a information from www.allnet.de). Another question is for the modem modell. There was 2 modell from the Type ALL0333. The right one is "ALL0333II ADSL". The wrong model is "ALL0333AU ADSL".
    The difference is (I think so) that the "AU" modell was for a tk system and not for home use...

    Sorry for my new posting. But I found a new answer for your error "Timeout waiting for PADO packets ". There was a problem from t-com. The best way is to call the hotline and solve the problem. The answer "what is PADO" in german:

    "Das PADO-Paket
    Was ist ein PADO-Paket? Die Frage stellt sich natürlich sofort. Es ist, kurz gesprochen (lang siehe RFC 2516) die Antwort auf die vom Linux-Rechner ausgesandte Anfrage (PADI-Paket) nach Gegenstellen (Access-Concentrators), die mit einem solchen PADO-Paket antworten.

    Die Ursachenforschung
    Im allgemeinen bedeutet das Ausbleiben des PADO-Pakets, dass irgendetwas mit der physischen Verbindung zwischen Ethernetkarte und DSL-Splitter nicht in Ordnung ist."

    1.  i haven't received the call back from the telekom guy, yet (to reset the port)
    2. i will try another dsl-modem of a friend, tomorrow.
