Several Services restarting without reason

Yeah, I can only echo this. ASL 5.021, last night around 22:45 the Intrusion Protection Patterns and the Virus Patterns got updated. 15 Minutes later I receive another 9 mails informing me of various daemon restarts (httpd, middleware, sockd, pop3, hyperdyper). Interestingly enough, one says I exceeded the user limit citing 4 IPs and 10 allowed. Go figure!

I did restart the box just now and will see if anything interesting happens.

Replying to myself here - It's been a week now and everything is running normal. I updated to 5.022 in the meantime, though. Just to let everybody know - a restart helped so far.

let me clear these issues.

We have a subsystem running on ASL that is called Selfmonitor.
This daemon process checks every part of ASL and validates that all needed services are running.
If for any reason one service is not running, it will restart this service to maintain a working system.

Up to version 5.020, we didn't send notification telling the admin that this happend, but just printed the information into the logfile.
As we think those are relevant information, we turned the notificaion with the up2date 5.021 on.

This is the reason why the firewall started to send you those notifications.

True - so that's a good idea. Nevertheless, is there an option for me to toggle between emails and logfiles?

And, the more relevant question is of course: Why do these services crash? Is there a way to find this out? I'm running ASL 5 on a 2 GHz Celeron w/ hardly any traffic - so it shouldn't be an issue of scarce resources.

Any ideas?

but what is the reason for the restarts? because my box wasn't down more times a day before - so what's really going on? [:(]

so - any news out there ? 

daily downtime is still holding on - and it's more than annoying! 

what about you gyus out there having production environments?     [:S]
