Several Services restarting without reason

Hello!

After installing the 5.021 I have the problem that several Services just as POP3, CONFIGURATION, HTTP et cetera are restarting without any given reason in the logs.

This behaviour forces me to switch on direct ports instead of using the Proxies and this is what I don´t like.

Does anybody have the same effect or a hint where to check on?

    We have had a similar situation at our client since 5.019, rebooting didn't help. But don't know what's the situation after .020 and .021

    I just started getting these notifications yesterday as well...jsut stared getting them for pop3, aua, confd, hyperdyper.

    Yeah, I can only echo this. ASL 5.021, last night around 22:45 the Intrusion Protection Patterns and the Virus Patterns got updated. 15 Minutes later I receive another 9 mails informing me of various daemon restarts (httpd, middleware, sockd, pop3, hyperdyper). Interestingly enough, one says I exceeded the user limit citing 4 IPs and 10 allowed. Go figure!

    I did restart the box just now and will see if anything interesting happens.

    i have 2 astaros VPNed, the 2nd one(smaller machine) also keeps spamming me with several services restarting reandomly(hyperdyper, https, various daemons) -in fact it says that they weren't running so it starts them-.
    The systemn also restarts by itself, i keep getting system restarted messages with noone logged in

    Replying to myself here - It's been a week now and everything is running normal. I updated to 5.022 in the meantime, though. Just to let everybody know - a restart helped so far.

    Hi there guys, 

    let me clear these issues.

    We have a subsystem running on ASL that is called Selfmonitor.
    This daemon process checks every part of ASL and validates that all needed services are running.
    If for any reason one service is not running, it will restart this service to maintain a working system.

    Up to version 5.020, we didn't send notification telling the admin that this happend, but just printed the information into the logfile.
    As we think those are relevant information, we turned the notificaion with the up2date 5.021 on.

    This is the reason why the firewall started to send you those notifications.

    True - so that's a good idea. Nevertheless, is there an option for me to toggle between emails and logfiles?

    And, the more relevant question is of course: Why do these services crash? Is there a way to find this out? I'm running ASL 5 on a 2 GHz Celeron w/ hardly any traffic - so it shouldn't be an issue of scarce resources.

    Any ideas?
