Support for SATA-raid controllers

Does anybody know if there are plans to support SATA-raid controllers? If yes, when?

I HAVE read the HCL, so i know that Astaro currently does not support SATA-raid.

I have an Adaptec 2410 SATA-raid card that i would like to use in an raid 1 configuration....

I would like everybody who is interrested in support for SATA-raid controllers to speak up !!

I believe that support for SATA drives and RAID1 cards would be a very good thing for Astaro to include in its software distribution.
I have brought this up before in these forums.

Support for *SATA* not just SATA raid would be great. Also support for the many Promise ATA raid controllers.

Astaro has been real busy cleaning up issues in V5, and to be honest with you I would much rather see them make V5 rock solid before adding any more features or functionality. If I had to guess, I'd say they will probably add SATA support in the future.

Astaro has been real busy cleaning up issues in V5, and to be honest with you I would much rather see them make V5 rock solid before adding any more features or functionality. If I had to guess, I'd say they will probably add SATA support in the future.

Yes, but I'm wondering if it's in the "roadmap" at all at the moment. Hard to buy a motherboard without SATA or RAID these days...

Astaro is typically very tight-lipped about potential new features and I doubt they're going to give us an answer. This is just a guess, but SATA would almost certainly have to be part of their roadmap, but it's probably not at the top of the heap right now. A good guess is that it may be 6 - 12 months out, but who knows.

Didn't Oliver post a few months ago SATA drives will function but the port has to be set to legacy mode? Then again I'm not sure if there's any potential speed issues.

I'll give it a run & post my results for you guys after the drives have arrived in the next shipment.

Hi all,
i have tested an 3Ware7006-2 (Level 0,1) - with 2 SATA-HDDs and Raid 1 and the install was no problem.
But it seems that this controller talk to the OS that there is 1 IDE Drive connected after a RAID was buid up.

According to my knowledge (haven't personally tested), all 3Ware cards should work since they use the same drivers. From the system point of view, it possibly looks like just 1 IDE. Also products like http://www.stardom-europe.de/detailseiten/storage/e_sr2600.htm should work okay I guess.
