Which optical NICs are supported?

Planning to replace some 100BaseT-NICs with 1000BaseSX ...

Which 1000BaseSX-NICs will be supported by ASL?
Sorry, couldn't find any useful information in the HCL or in this forum.

if it is not on the HCL then none are officially supported..i would give it a whirl though sometimes things just work..[:)]

you avhe the information from the hcl..why not simply do a little bit of research on google yourself?

interesting..so looking up the model numbers on google yeilds nothing?

Let's look at a few:
NetXtreme BCM5703 Gigabit Ethernet(google results show it is a 1000 basetx card)
jsut for one instance. The informaiton is there..jsut take some time to figure it uout..from what i see there are no SX boards supported..so install it with some SX nics and see if it works..

I think what Stefan is saying is that his fiber NIC is not specifically listed but has anyone had success with anything like his NIC that's not listed on the HCL. The HCL is not the last word in compatibility. True, it may not be supported, but it may function just fine otherwise.

which leads back to the point of..if it is not on the hcl..isntall the firewall and see if it works..[[:)]] my linksys cards are not listed on the acl..so i tried them(took all of 15 minutes) and they work great..i notified astaro and the hcl now reflects this..[[:)]]

i don't have any SX-NICs available to test with ... and buying just a bunch of them only to find out which are supported is a little bit expensive ...

Again: who has successfully set up an ASL box with optical NICs? And, please, no more links on HCL and Google ...

Syskonnect SK9843 is working in version 4 very well but unfortunately the current driver used in version 5 is crashing the kernel under certain circumstances. As soon as we find some time we will compile the most recent version of the driver (I was in touch with Syskonnect already) and test it in the labs.

As far as I know all fiber cards based on chipsets mentioned in the HCL should work since only the transmitter/receiver unit is a different. I know this information is not satisfying at this point, sorry
