Unable to restore a backup with [5.008] or [5.010]

I was unable to restore a backup from [5.008] to a fresh install of [5.008] or a backup of [5.010] to a fresh install of [5.010].
I applied the backup, waited 15 mins., but was unable to access Webadmin. I rebooted Astaro from the console but even after that I could not access Webadmin. The computer is a PIII 667 with 256MB of Ram and 3 NICs.

The hardware has been the same for the last year and has been running [5.011] just fine (until it crashed due to a power outage) so I doubt its hardware related.

I WAS able to reinstall [5.010], configure it from scratch, and get it running correctly.
Should I apply my Licence before I restore a backup ? I tried it but it did not seem to help.
I checked the NICS after restoring the backup and they were set correctly as to eth0, eth1, and eth2.

Has anyone encountered problems restoring backups with 5.0? Could it be that with the HTTP Proxy and IPS turned on (in the backup) that 256MB of RAM is no enough to restore a backup? Maybe?

Any ideas?

I recently wanted to upgrade from 5.008 to latest 5.011 ISO.

Logged into webmin and created a backup which I saved to Desktop.

Installed 5.011 ISO

Installed license key

Up2date to 5.012 version

Tried to restore 5.008 backup but received error message.
Rebooted and tried again without luck. I can email the backup file to support if requested.

Maybe I should ask a different question when it comes to restoring back-ups. Has anyone successfully restored a back-up of 5.010 to a fresh install of 5.010? Was it easy as pie or did you run into any problems? If so what?

Hello,

I did an update from V5.009 to a fresh V5.011 and it worked quite good.

Have you ever tried to backp an other file or do you only have this one. Maybe the file is corrupt.

BTW: What kind of hardware do you use, especially what size of ram?

I tried many back-ups but I was unable to restore any of them on my
PIII 667 with 256MB RAM.

This may be unrelated to your issue, but I've run into problems when restoring a backup using FireFox. There seems to be an issue with how files get uploaded in FireFox 0.9.xx which has wiped out my ASL box on 3 different occasions (each requiring a clean install).

However, applying the backup from IE 6 has worked flawlessly.

I now restore the backups with IE 6, but do all other managing thru FireFox 0.9.1.

THAT EXPLAINS IT!!!! I was pulling my hair out on Friday...Why couldn't I restore my backup?!?!?!...I was using Firefox also...will use IE next time...
