Can't see access point but webadmin says its up!

Oh.. and I am sooo close...

asl says my wlan0 is up and GREEN. Have setup wlan0 as an access point with WEP enabled.. (had it disabled too).

But I can't see the network?

No matter what I do I cannot connect.

I am using a Compaq WL100 in a Ricoh PCMCIA bridge.
no errors when booting.. I do hear 2 beeps when it starts PCMCIA though..

I guess I should try noapic although it is seeing the interface just fine... in fact when I change from access point to station I see the kernel log telling me it changed modes.

Hope you can help.. I really don't want to put the Linksys wireless back in service.

    Hi Freyder,
    which version of ASL are you currently using ? - and did you check the HCL if your hardware meets all requirements ?

    All patched to the latest  asl v4.019 

    HCL doesn't specify a PCMCIA -> PCI bridge .. or at least I didn't find it there.  WLAN/Prism cards are required.  The WLAN page confirms support for the Compaq WL100 PCMCIA card as a Prism 2 based card.

    I'll try a different laptop and card to eliminate the client side of the equation.

    Ack [:$]choh  ... Sorry about that.

    I have the Ricoh C475 which is tested.

    further analysis shows that the firmware on the WL100 has to be upgraded to support IBSS... working on that now.

    For what its worth... I installed ASL 4 on a laptop with the wl100 in place and got the same errors.

    I am rather new to ASL... just installed about a week ago and then used up2date to get to the latest.

    however, the Compaq Wl100 card has been around for quite awhile and is  listed on the wlan/prism2 HCL driver list.

    those sources talk about getting prism2 firmware upgraded to enable features to allow it to be an access point.... not sure if this is accurate... 

    i have attempted a firmware upgrade to no avail.

    I believe that once I am successful it will work properly.

    Hi !
    I've testet ASL 4.016 with the DWL-500 (PCMCIA/PCI) and the DWL-650 PRISM2.5 PCMCIA card as an AP myself - working fine !!!
    I'll try to free up some time during the weekend and upgrade to 4.019 and see if it's still working - I'll let you know the result.
