NICS that don't work in V.4

I have 2 nics that the v 3.2 install recognized, but when I install v4, it doesn't recognize either of them.  Is anyone aware of this problem, or these particular nics?

 eth0   3Com Corporation 3c905 100BaseTX [Boomerang] 
eth1   National Semiconductor Corporation DP83815 (MacPhyter) Ethernet Controller 

eth1 is a netgear nic. 

Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Try to migrate from 3 to 4 instead of a new installation. I think it could work this way.

    Have a look at /etc/modules.conf of your V3 installation. Find the 'alias ethx' lines and write down which module is used.

    Does your V4 install at all? Try to install with another NIC and change the entries in /etc/modules.conf to these of V3 and replace with your NICs.

    I had to physically reorder the nic's.  The combo that ended up working was to have the 3 com in the highest physical address (ie. tulip/tulip/3com)

    Thanks for the info.  I couldnt install from the v4 disc, so I did the migration, changed the 3com nic to "vanilla-3c59x" and system came up fine.  I am still having problems with the Netgear FA311 nic....ASL doc site says it works, but I have read other user posts saying it doesn't.

    If anyone knows of the correct driver to use for the FA311, it would be appreciated.  I was using "alias eth1 natsemi"
