how to make a bootdisk....computer cannot boot the cd-rom?

hi,
update your BIOS.

the newest Bios is already installed!!

does nobody know how to create a bootdisk??

ChokuRei,

if your machine is soo old that it isn't able
to boot from CD you'd only have the chance to install
it on a different machine (with bootable CD-ROM)
and replace the harddrive afterwards. All you have
to do is to adjust /etc/modules.conf.

Another option: if you have an SCSI controller (e.g. the famous 1542) and an according CD-ROM just plug it (temporarily) into your FW-box-to-be. Usually the SCSI controller can boot off an CD-ROM by its own BIOS (using dirty tricks like faking the CD bootblock as Floppy device A: )

Why?
If you go to link over here, you can download a little program to make boot from floppy and then select your boot device.
It is useful if your bios hasn't boot from cdrom.

If your CDRom isnt bootable, you will need to make a boot disk.

Easiest way is to start a Windoez machine and put in the CD. Open up a command prompt and do the following:

cd d: (drive letter)
cd dosutils
rawrite (at this point its useful to have a floppy disk installed)
Follow the on screen prompts. This will make a boot floppy that I have found will make most things work, including some very annoying SCSI problems.
