2.028 to 3.2 upgrade via up2date

This is becoming extremely frustrating.

I have tried the recommended process of building a new PC, installing 3.2 on it and then restoring the 2.028 backup. This completes and then the firewall fails to process traffic. (I received no replies to several posts that I made here.)

When that didn't work and I got no support I decided to wait until Astaro released the Up2date package. This morning I tried loading the files that were located on the FTP site.

I loaded the md5.sum first and then followed that with each file as they were listed in the ftp directory. Once that was complete I hit the start button and got the following messages back. (This is a cut and paste from the up2date page.)

    Click START to begin with the migration. The firewall will reboot 3 times during that process.
There is obviously something in error here since I loaded the md5.sum file first. Now I have the files loaded and have no idea what direction to go in.

    Just a quick note...

    I just realized that this board is for community support not as a means to contact Astaro's techs for assistance. This explains my frustration and I'm sorry for the tone of my last post.

    If anyone has tried the upgrade path to go from version 2 to 3 and has gotten the same error that I did, could you post how you resolved the issue?

    I was helping a fried upgrade 2.x to 3.x as 3.x wouldn't install from CD.

    We had several problems:
    1. Doesn't work from IE on Mac OSX.
    2. Doesn't seem to work from a PC at remote location (possible timeouts during upload?).

    It did finally work installing using Netscape on a PC.

    But it sounds to me like it's ready to go for yours. Maybe reload that page and see if the error goes away.

    Something is jammed. I have rebooted the ASL box and tried to run the upgrade from a different PC, the up2date page stays the same. All files are listed as "uploaded & CRC ok" but I still get the same result telling me to load the md5.sum files first (which is what I did). 

    Well, I purchased the "Gold" tech support service plan from Astaro so once they help me resolve this issue I'll follow up with a post here.

    Something is jammed. I have rebooted the ASL box and tried to run the upgrade from a different PC, the up2date page stays the same. All files are listed as "uploaded & CRC ok" but I still get the same result telling me to load the md5.sum files first (which is what I did). 

    Well, I purchased the "Gold" tech support service plan from Astaro so once they help me resolve this issue I'll follow up with a post here.

    I'm curious as to how this ended up. Did you get the upgrade process to work properly? I'm planning on following it tonight, so I'd love to know what pitfalls are in my path.

    Working with Tech support we used a second machine to load a clean copy of 3.2 and then restored the backup.

    After the back up was restored from the 2.028 firewall the NEW firewall would not pass any traffic. It was possible to ping the nearest NIC but nothing after.

    Andy from Astaro Technical Support (on the USA west coast, PST time zone) went through the config with a fine tooth comb and found a corrupted Masq entry, which he removed.

    We swapped out the NEW (3.2) system and waited a couple minutes for the middleware to update.

    Traffic began to flow and we went through my network to test the rules. The only hitch was the DMZ network (our webserver is on this) pings were being passed to this network but pages were not being served.

    It turns out that the Cisco router connected to the Internet required rebooting. I believe there was a conflict with the router and the different MAC address on the NEW (3.2) PC.

    I must say that I am very pleased with this product (It is an excellent value.) and I am very pleased with the Technical Support.
