Firewall Crashing

hi everyone,

Does anyone know what causes this problem. It happens when a backup script is run and a lot of data is going round the network 

 NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit timed out
Oct 11 19:02:07 citadel2 kernel: eth0: Transmit timed out, status 0000, PHY status 782d, resetting...
Oct 11 19:02:07 citadel2 kernel: eth0: reset did not complete in 10 ms.

can anyone help?
