Constant CPU load caused by ctipd.bin

My UTM at home is constantly extremely busy (alway >10% CPU load), even when there is no traffic or mail at all. I found out that a process named cipd.bin is causing this load. It seems this process is a third party tool from Cyren which offers IP reputation services. I first thought something is wrong with my box, but the UTM Appliances of my customers have the same problem, too. Is there anything I can do to stop this process from consuming CPU when there is nothing to do?

  • Hi Jan,

As per our DM conversation and logfile information, I didn't find anything in the fallback.log. Looking inside the /cores directory there were core dumps generated for CTIPD and CTASD. You need to raise a support ticket with these findings. Prior to that, restart CTIPD services by executing the command /var/mdw/scripts/ctipd restart and monitor the CPU load.

    Hope that helps.
