Standby UTM's for internet at different sites?

Just wondering what combinations we can have here.

We have 2 sites, each with 2x SG330 (active/standby)
The sites are connected via a 100mb dedicated link. We can specify our own ip's at each end ie sub interfaces/vlans

Each site has a 50mb link to the internet.

So I'm wondering what combination we could use here eg if internet fails at site A, send all to site B etc?

  • On each side of the dedicated link:

    • Give the dedicated-link Interface the IP of the other side as default gateway.
    • Leave the Interface in 'Active' in Uplink Balancing.
    • Activate, in order, two Multipath rules with persistence by-interface
      1. Bind 'Any -> Any -> {LANs at other site}' to the dedicated-link Interface.
      2. Bind 'Any -> Any -> Any' to the External Interface.

    Easy Peasy.

    Extra credit for you, Louis, for posting here a method that provides failover for reaching the other site if the dedicated link goes down. [;)]
