9.413-4 High Memory Usage

xyyz 2000

this is something i've been dealing with since the very beginning, but i would like to see if there's a reason and possibly a fix.

my Sophos UTM device has pretty high memory usage.

i'm running off of a esxi 5.5 box.  i've allocated 2 cores of an i950 along with 8gb or memory.  i'm including a screenshot of the configuration as well.

any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

    Honestly, no changes.  As far as I can remember, it's always been like this.

    When memory usage is high, what does top show at the command line?  Be sure to sort by %MEM.

    can i run TOP from the webinterface or do i need to SSH into the box?

    Either SSH or at the console.

    well, this is setting up a whole other issue; for some reason, I cannot SSH into the box using the loginuser id, no matter what i do or how many times i change the password

     

    "Failed password for loginuser from 192.168.xxx.xxx port 53770 ssh2"

    alright, that was strange.  apparently, upgrading fixed the issue.  after the reboot, the mem usage is at 29%.  here's what top says (and I'll check again in a bit):
