Setting up High Availability between 2 VMs

I have a Hyper-V VM running UTM 9.407-3 and it all works fine.

When I try and enable HA mode between it and another UTM (blank config other than IP address, hardware and NIC config exactly the same) both UTMs become unresponsive in the GUI, and appear to stop routing traffic. The console seems to remain responsive, but I wouldn't even know where to start even if I did login here!

Luckily I am able to perform a Hyper-V Checkpoint before starting this work, so that each time it fails I can quickly roll-back to a working setup.

Can somebody suggest what might be going on here ?

  • The firmware version is identical, and both VMs have the same number of NICs.

I am unable to access the High Availability log as the GUI becomes unresponsive as soon as I enable HA mode on both UTMs, and I then have to rollback both VMs to an earlier point in time to allow them to become usable again.
