Best practice web filtering

I have setup webfiltering for my children based on DHCP reservations.

Currently i have to manual add them to the group that is being used in the webfiltering policy so i want to use the DHCP range for easier use.

I want to create a wifi network on the AP55 access point  that uses a new DHCP range and use the DHCP range for the webfiltering but cannot figure out how to
set that up.

  • Hi,

You can configure a separate SSID for children say, Child. Define it on a separate interface. PFA screenshot:

Go to interface & routing > Interface> New interface, create a new Ethernet interface and select wlan0 as the hardware definition.

Remember to configure a DHCP on this interface. Now, you have an SSID on a separate zone with a defined network address. Add wlan0 (network) in the allowed network box of Web Protection global setting. Finally, create a filter profile for child network to filter the web traffic as per the requirement.

    Thanks

  • Hi Sachingurung,

    Thanks for the instruction!

WLAN0 is already used for my guest network and cannot be used for this purpose due to that fact.

  • Hi,

In that case, bind the IP address with the MAC address of devices used by the children and create a separate filter profile.

    Thanks
