UTM Free edition og 105 hardware box?

Yes, in fact, you should be able to simply mv /etc/asg /etc/asg.bak, do a Factory Reset and do the initial setup.

When i try to use the home free license on the SG105 box i get this error:

Currently i use the 30day free trial. What happens when it expires?

See Balfson's post just above yours. Enable console login, login to console and rename asg file.

Maybe it's just me, but how would this help me?

I assume this will just do a configuration backup before a reimage?

This will help you because the physical appliances all have this file and the home license simply doesn't accept it.
