3g Interface: how to verify internet connection?

Hello guys!

I found a Huawei E220 3g/UMTS modem (which saw it is compatible with sophos) and decided to give a try as a failover solution.
I plugged it on a spare port and after a reboot (well, 2 reboots, actually), the UTM detected it and I managed to add it as a standby interface.

I saw that the interface was appearing down. I disabled the primary wan interface and after a while the 3g changed its state to UP and was actually showing 3 bars of signal. However I was not able to access the internet.

  • Is there anything else to configure? Does the appearance of the signal bars mean that it has internet connection?
  • Is there a way to actually verify that this interface connects to the ISP and internet connection is available? Any logs that I can see, or any commands to run via ssh?

    Yes I have confirmed that it works in a windows PC... That's why I wondered if there is anything else I should set in order for it to have internet...
    Also confirmed that the apn is correct.
    I also saw the 3 bars of signal inside UTM, which should mean that it has signal, not sure if this means that it also has internet connection...Anyways, I will look into it again and try to spot any mistakes, now that I know that there is nothing more to configure. Thank you very much!!!

    P.S.: So what is your recommendation? To put it in active interfaces with 0 weight, or to put it in standby interfaces?
    The only difference I can think of (not in docs, though...) is that it being in active will make it respond faster.
    But what is also not clear is this: What is considered as the primary uplink? The active interface with a weight of 100, or any interface in the active interfaces? Because if it is the latter, then the warning will not trigger. I am talking about 
    SNMP
    WARN-030 Primary internet uplink is down, switching to backup line

    And this will not be good...
