Sophos Home 9.204-20 randomly shutdown every few days & sporadic lag every few min

Until they are shown to be related it is probably best to consider the three problems separately:  unexplained shutdown (or power-off?), unexplained power-on/boot and unexplained lag.

Start by reviewing the logs.  As this device's reliability is in question you may want to copy them off to another system for processing.

Shuts down cleanly or abruptly powers off (no OS shutdown sequence)?

Powers back on with no apparent external cause?  No auto boot features enabled in BIOS?  (Alarm, wake on lan, Wake on LAN, etc.)

Which, if any, LEDs remain illuminated though the apparent power down state?  How does this compare to the LED illumination under "normal" power and boot states (truth table?)?

Are all fans functioning properly, designed airflow unobstructed and capacitors non-bulged?  Do you have a way to test or confirm the voltages from the powersupply?  UPS and power cables properly connected and confirmed as functioning properly?

Is the lag all network traffic or only proxied web traffic?  Is it across all interfaces (LAN/WAN/etc) or only one?

Does the lag appear to coincide with pattern updates (configured for every 30 minutes?) or a cron job?

Hmm as weird as it sounds but so far it looks like the box freezes after few minutes when a user connects with SSL VPN.  The box is frozen (not shut down).
