Why are the INTEL NICs considered the best? And would this one suffice?

The motherboard build in NICs that I am looking at are the chepo Marvell chipset.
So I am thinking of purchasing a PCI-E NIC...however if I purchase this NIC will one 1 NIC suffice since it's dual port or Do I have to  purchase two separate NICS?

    THe reason Intel nics are the best is:
    1.  They have a looooong track record of high quality, high performance, they are actual physical interfaces not soft one(think winmodems..just use nics there) like realtek, marvel and others.
    2. Intel spends much money making sure their nics work nearly everywhere...windows, linux, various unix.  This is not a half baked job like many others...this is full compatibility and performance.
