Use static IPs via dhcp for these devices and allow traffic only to target-systems defined by a group of IPs.
Not sure how to even start..but I seen on Yahoo that transparent mode does not block everything I want blocked..I used the proxy for the regular nintendo ds & did but it did not work..I am not real good at this stuff so I need step by step instructions..please & thank you
The UTM is an Enterprise-level piece of software, so it's not for the faint-of-heart. [:)] If you're willing to spend some time working through things here, it will do a great job of giving your kids the protection you want.
When you first set this up, the installation wizard made a Firewall rule 'Allow : Internal (Network) -> Web Surfing -> Any'. Eventually, you will want to turn that off because kids are always smarter than their parents! [;)]
Start by turning on Web Filtering, and, on the 'Global' tab, put Web Filtering into 'Standard' mode. On the 'URL Filtering' tab, click on the categories you want to block. Always remember to to click on [Apply] after having made a change. Finally, on the 3DS, follow the instuctions on the Nintendo site to make the device use the UTM Proxy: | Nintendo 3DS - How To Configure for a Proxy. The 'Server' is the address of "Internal (Address)" and the port is 8080.
