Throughput ?

MLWALK3R
I have,

AMD 6100, 6 Core 3.3Ghz
8Gb Ram
2x1 Gig nic's "w/ cat6 STP" "Wan speed is slow..."
5400 RPM drive
all ran in vSphere

What is the throughput on this, is it good or shall i change any think ?

    Hi,
    the specifications you have quoted are the for the utm or the entire box?

    What drivers have you setup on your nics?

    What other functions are sharing the nics and cpu?

    If it is a standalone box, why run vsphere?

    What resources have you allocated the utm?

    I would suggest you add another nic if it is multi function box.

    I would suggest you add another nic if it is multi function box. Already have 2 1 gigs but realtek i hear is SH*T "Using an intel nic but looking at getting one more"

    Or use te windows 2012 as a dns server for the internal network. True or you could offload them onto separate boxes. Because the more you stress on one system the more bottleneck you may experience.

    six cpus is an over kill, 2 is more than adequate and for home use 4gb of ram is plenty.
    If you are using the intel drivers the throughput should be good, as around the 50mb/s mark, but that will depend on what else is using the nic. 

    There others with high speed external interfaces that can give a better indication of performance.
