Enable HA breaks ASG

Hi All,

I wonder if someone can shed some light on a problem I have.

I have 2 Hyper-V guest ASG 8.301

I have FW1 setup and configured and working very well.
I build FW2 and gave it an IP in then internal network.

I enable HA on FW1 and thelog shows it checking the Sync interface for another ASG.
The firewall is still working fine.

I enable HA on FW2 and after a few seconds, the log shows that it has found andother ASG on the sync interface, and that FW is the master.

After a minute or so, i lose contact with FW2 and shortly after i lose contact with FW1.

If i reboot FW1 it starts up fine, but i can not connect/ping it. If I restart FW2, i see on hte console that its IP is now the same as FW1.

With either FW on, I can not ping or connect to it.

Has anyone seen this, is it something I have done? I used the Auto Configure option, and untill I set FW2 to auto configure, FW1 was working fine.

Hi Bob,

I have looked through that post and tried all that is suggested. I am wondering if anyone else has HA working in Hyper-V. I have even cloned the primary VM and installed a fresh install and i get the same issue each time. I have reset the switch, still get teh same.

I do see that the config is copied because on hte console I see the .1 IP address on the secondary FW, but even starting just that VM i can not connect and its not passing traffic.

I am sure I must be doing something wrong. I am going to start from scratch and build a new test setup and try and get it working, but any suggestions would be very helpful.

I tried HA on Hyper-V recently and ran into the exact same problem. Without HA, it runs fine.
Did you allow MAC spoofing in the VM settings?

Did you allow 10-15 minutes for it to "settle".

Initial HA enable will drop links and behave oddly till it settles down. 10-15 minutes should do it.

I left it running for a day or so. No change. I ended up re-installing both machines from scratch.
