Bridged Modem

Hi

I have a Draytek Vigor 120 Modem running in bridge mode pppoa to pppoe passthrough

And I use Astaro to make the pppoe connection, Astaro gets a dynamic IP address from my ISP.

How do I access my modem through that interface?

    Hi, 
    you should be able to put a second IP address (different range) on that interface is oneway, but I could never get that to work.
    Others have got it to work.

    I have this working at home.

    What I have done is set the a host address (10.1.1.1) and gateway address (10.1.1.254) in the LAN settings on my modem, this is a different subnet from my internal network.

    I've then added the gateway address I set in the modem (10.1.1.254) as an additional address on my WAN interface, created a network definition called "modem" with the modem subnet (10.1.1.0/24) and set an appropriate incoming firewall rule (modem-internal) and that has it working OK.

    Sorry, one more thing. I've also set a static route on my modem for my internal address with a gateway of 10.1.1.254.

    Hi wogman,
    I tried again without success.

    1/. how did you overcome the spoof warnings?
    2/. with spoof protection disabled the router resets the connection every time.

    Maybe, I need to add the source address range to the modem as a valid connection, I will try and see what happens? Stupid idea.

    Even with logging enabled, nothing gets displayed in the livelog except the spoofed messages when spoof checking is enabled.

    I'll have a look at the spoofing issue and see what I've done.

    So I checked and I have spoof protection off.

    I turned it on to see what the effect was and my whole network locked up [:S]

    I had to restore a backed-up config to get services back.

    So.......I don't have the spoofing issues 'cause spoof protection is off.
